Retired staff, you need protection!
AIACE is there to help defend you

(Parvis du Conseil de l’Europe derrière un chêne offert par l’AIACE à l’organisation)

This is the situation as it affects us:

  • The interests of retired staff (and indeed of serving staff) are under constant threat from, among other things, the budget pressures weighing on our former employer, disregard of the regulatory procedures intended to protect us from arbitrary decisions, and the fact that, as former employees of an international organisation, we do not have access to national public-sector protection machinery.
  • The regulations do not give retired staff the same level of representation as serving staff: two seats are reserved for them out of the 29 on the Staff Committee. That is better than in many other international organisations, but all the same…

The main thing you need to know is that since 1979 there has been an association that is permanently engaged in defending and promoting the interests of retired staff, organising social and cultural events for them, and keeping them informed:

the International Association of Former Council of Europe Staff Members (AIACE)
